I asked a really nice Aussie girl, Rochelle, to write something about Australia: school, people, habits, free time ... she ended up writing this letter, which I think is really interesting and I thank her a lot!!! You have to know that we under exams and she has been very kind writing it! ... and if someone wants to learn how to write in a proper English... well, check out her sentences !

My name is Rochelle and I attend Brighton Secondary College, Melbourne. Here in Australia we go to school five days a week, from 9:00 am to 3:15 pm. We have a 20 minute snack break, and a 50 minute lunch break. Students choose six subjects to study in year 11; our classes go for 45 minutes each. Some of the subjects that we learn include: maths, science, art, French and Japanese, as well as food technology and health.
We have a fairly laid-back style when it comes to classes. It isn't very formal, but if you need help the teachers will gladly come over and give you assistance. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there are optional classes after school called Homework Help, where a couple of teachers will help the students with whatever subjects they need assistance on.
Most people have part-time jobs here. On weekends when people aren't working, we meet up with our friends. There is quite a lot to do in the city. Taking a train is the most convienent way of getting there (contrary to popular belief, people in Australia do not get around sitting in kangaroo pouches! :-) ). From here it doesn't take too long to get to Brighton Beach, so when it's hot people like to go there to swimm, sit on the sand or go for walks.
People enjoy going out and going to parties, too. Often parties are held at people's houses. People here also go to the shopping centres (Chadstone or Southland) to see a movie with friends or sit at a cafe. Australia is a multi-cultural place, and there are a lot of tourist attractions all over the country, some which are quite popular with the locals as well as tourists (in Melbourne some of them include Luna Park – a very old amusement park, and Federation Square). Personally I enjoy living in Melbourne very much.
